Where would YouTube be without unboxing? For years now, vloggers are raking in royalties just by unpacking the latest gadgets and some have actually amassed a fortune. We thought we should investigate this amazing phenomenon: what does unboxing look like in real life?

The redaction of Create Out Loud was looking for a critical connoisseur, a spontaneous commentator to publicly unwrap some gems of Dutch Design. We found our man in Ravi Naidoo, the energetic founder of the world’s largest design conference, Design Indaba, and director of marketing agency Interactive Africa. How do you look at Dutch Design with un-Dutch eyes? What kind of questions does he ask himself in relation to a product? And what questions does he ask the designer behind it? As an ambassador of Dutch Design week, Naidoo can always invoke his diplomatic immunity. So while our host Marsha Simon howls in more boxes, he unpacks them… Surprise!
