Make a Forest at Strijp-S

Make a Forest at Strijp-S

The United Nations proclaimed 2011 as the international year of the Forest. This inspired cultural entrepreneurs Anne van der Zwaag and Joanna van der Zanden to initiate the project Make a Forest. The project is based on the idea that besides their cultural, natural and symbolic value, forests have been an inspiration to artists and designers since decades. Make a Forest uses their imagination to raise awareness about sustainable forestry. The project has been taken up by several initiatives around the globe.

During the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven the Wild-S pavilion is transformed into the Make a Forest headquarters. MU has put together a special program and asked designers and artists to create and present artificial trees for the temporary forest at Strijp-S.

The following works will be shown:
Temporary Trees by Raw Color en GKMK
Bosbus 2.0 by Ton Matton (Matton Office)
Tree Track by Christien Meindertsma (commissioned by InnovatieNetwerk)
City Tree by Helmut Smits
Rubbertree by type-b (Marc ter Horst)
Tree One Minutes by theoneminutes.org

Sunday October 23 the Make a Forest project will be officially opened. Between 2 and 4 pm different lecturers will share their specific knowledge with you. Participating designers will also be present and talk about their fascination for trees. A selection of Tree One Minutes will be shown.

This project is sponsored by: Strijp-S Cultuurfonds, Brainport Eindhoven, Willy de Kruyff Touringcars and Trudo
